The Code & Zone Enforcement Division of the Community Development Department provides inspections, investigations, and compliance guidelines in the City for residential and commercial code and zone violations. The focus is on the maintenance of neighborhood and community assets, thereby assuring the health, safety, and welfare of residents in all neighborhoods.
This division is also responsible for the City's Annual Weed Abatement Program. Property owners are notified to remove weeds, trash, and other material that constitute a fire hazard. If a property owner fails to respond, the City performs the weed abatement through a private contractor and assesses the property owner for the incurred costs.
To report a Code Enforcement violation, please contact Joey Ramsey at (559) 935-1533 x131 or email your full name, address, telephone number, type of violation and the location to CoalingaCZE@coalinga.com (Please be advised that all information provided to the Code Enforcement Department shall remain confidential.)
Once a complaint is filed, we will visit the site and confirm that a code violation is present. Then we may send a Notice of Violation to the property owners or issue an immediate citation should the violation warrant such action. The owners have a set amount of time to correct the violation. If property owners do not comply, the Code Enforcement Department will issue an infraction citation or initiate the abatement proceedings depending on the situation.
