What should I do if I smell gas?

Please be advised and remember the following should you smell gas:

  • Keep a flashlight around for investigating minor gas odors
  • Do not use matches or candles to find gas leaks
  • Never turn on electric switch on or off when you suspect a gas leak. The spark can ignite the gas
  • Check whether pilot lights are lit. If the smell of gas persists, or you have any doubts, open windows and doors and get everyone out of the building.
  • Use a phone that is away from the building.
  • Call 911, the Fire Department and Public Works will be dispatched
