FRESNO 198 CULVERT REHABILITAION 

PREOJECT TO RESUME MONDAY, MAY 18^TH  

FRESNO COUNTY − The Department of Transportation, (Caltrans), in cooperation with Teichert Construction, announces the Fresno 198 Culvert Rehabilitation Project to resume Monday, May 18^th.

The following will occur beginning May 18^th:

• The contractor will resume rehabilitating the remaining culverts where they left off prior to the winter suspension between Parkfield Junction and Monterey County line.
  • To rehabilitate the remaining culverts, the contractor will begin working Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 6:00pm.
• During the rehabilitation of the culverts, the contractor will be utilizing one-way reversing traffic control along State Route 198.
  • During this time, the contractor will use flagging personnel through the work zone.  Commuters are reminded to obey flagging personnel and pay close attention to road construction vehicles and personnel.

Closures may continue for longer periods of time, if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur.

Caltrans Construction personnel remind you to drive with extra care and allow additional travel time while travelling in the construction area.  Please be alert for Road Construction Personnel and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

The City of Coalinga is pleased to share that fuel service has once again been restored at the Coalinga Municipal Airport. This milestone reflects the City’s continued efforts to maintain and strengthen important public infrastructure that supports our community.

Restoring fuel service ensures the airport can continue supporting general aviation activities that benefit the region, including emergency response, medical transport, agricultural aviation, and business aviation.

Having fuel available on-site also supports pilots traveling through the region and helps position the airport to attract aviation-related businesses and future investment that rely on reliable airport services.

The Coalinga Municipal Airport remains a valuable community asset, and restoring fuel service is an important step in ensuring the facility continues to serve the needs of our region today and into the future.

City of Coalinga representatives recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to advocate for the community’s priorities and strengthen relationships with federal agencies and elected officials.

During the visit, City officials met with representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Reclamation, and members of California’s congressional delegation. Discussions focused on key issues impacting Coalinga, including airport infrastructure improvements, water supply and infrastructure challenges, public safety resources, transportation funding, and economic development opportunities.

The meetings provided an opportunity to highlight the unique challenges facing rural Central Valley communities while positioning the City for future federal funding opportunities. Federal agencies indicated that several grant programs may be available in the coming months, particularly in areas such as public safety, transportation, water infrastructure, and aviation.

Mayor Vosburg noted that maintaining strong relationships at the federal level is critical to advancing local projects and securing funding for infrastructure improvements.

“Advocating directly with federal partners ensures that Coalinga’s needs are understood and considered as funding opportunities become available,” Vosburg said. “These efforts are essential to supporting our long-term infrastructure, public safety, and economic development goals.”

The City will continue to monitor upcoming funding opportunities and work with federal partners to pursue resources that benefit the community.

CHUSD FOOD SERVICES: Seamless Summer Feeding Program

CHUSD Food Services will be providing meals to the community during the summer. Ages 1-18 years old.
